Foxy Photographer

I really love this photo and would like to do a painting based on it, but always wonder about how the photographer got the shot. Did the photographer find a dead fox and somehow convince the woman to pose with it? Or could this have been planned shoot with a taxidermied fox?

Blog Pictures

four., originally uploaded by sarah lownes.
Where do the pictures on the blog come from? The various photographers on Flickr. Who are these people? Students, professionals, what? I have no clue. This is where Touched comes in. Yeah, it's a weird name. Touched is a blog that interviews some of the amazing photographers on Flickr.

It's worth checking out!

I spend a lot of time looking at photos to post and I thought it would be kind of fun to have a Photo of the Month contest!  Nominate your favorite photos in the comment section of this post and one will be chosen and featured. We are going to start with December so if the photo relates to winter, holidays, etc. it's a plus, but not necessary.

Rules:
1. The photo must be from Flickr.com
2. The photo must have the "Blog This" option (you will only see this if you are logged in)
3. You must provide a link to the photo (duh). Example: "http://www.flickr.com/photos/siobhanbermingham/3126148368/"
4. Must not have text/signature of photographer. Example: John Doe Photography.

The Motherhood Mandate

loveinfinity, originally uploaded by yyellowbird.
According to "Half the Human Experience: The Psychology of Women," 92% of women will marry and 90% of those women will have at least one child.

This is kind of scary to think about!
(Check out Yyellowbird's photography on Flickr!  She's brilliant!)

It's fall and I'm exhausted from midterms and writing essays. Did I mention I only got three hours of sleep the night before last?

Hot Shots

hot shots book singing in san fran, originally uploaded by lomokev.
I just got the book Hot Shots and I am so excited about it! It is a simple book with great ideas on how to take more interesting photos. It has full page pictures with a paragraph on the opposite page describing how to get similar results. It's great because unlike a lot of photography books, it's not long and overly technical, it focuses mostly on composition.

I would definitely recommend it if you are interested in photography, but sometimes suffer from "writer's block" when looking though a lens.

Oktomat

Oktomat, originally uploaded by shelaya.
I think my Oktomat is broken. I tried to take some pictures the other day and it sounded like some of the lenses weren't working! At least the camera still looks cool. Maybe I'll do another painting of it. . .
